The first pointer is that you should check for the consistency of the water inside the aquarium. Make sure that it is not too acidic or too basic because a slight alteration in the pH balance of the environment can cause serious threat to your pets’ health. Then you should check for the presence of chlorine, ammonia, and nitrite, which are often found on freshwater preparations. These chemicals are toxic and should be eradicated right away.
The second note you should keep in mind when doing freshwater fish aquarium care is to wash your aquarium at least once a week. The purpose of this is to remove dirt, fecal material, soiled food particles, parasites, and other microorganisms that can be harmful to the health of the fishes. When washing, make sure you remove all the fishes first and drain the old water. Brush the sides, bottom, as well as the pebbles, wood, plastic plants, and other decorative objects. Some experts may recommend that you should not totally eradicate algae growing on pebbles and objects because these serve as foods. But if you won’t remove this, it will accumulate and eventually intoxicate your fishes.
